1997 | HPI acquires Tamor Corporation, leading supplier of closet organizers and storage containers in Leominster, Mass. |
1998 | HPI acquires Seymour Housewares, leading supplier of laundry management products in the U.S. |
1998 | HPI acquires Tenex Corporations consumer storage business; product line consists of plastic storage bins and rolling carts. |
1998 | HPI acquires Newell Plastics (Plastics, Inc), leading supplier of food storage containers. |
1999 | HPI divests Shutters, Inc., its home improvements products division, to investor group led by Shutters, Inc. management team. |
2001 | HPI divests Plastics, Inc., its serving-ware product line, to Tyco International affiliate A & E Products Group LP, |
2004 | Home Products International, Inc. Purchased by Private Equity Groups led by Equity Group International, Inc., Walnut Group and Triyar Capital. Company delisted from NASDAQ exchange. New management team installed. |
January 2006 | Company receives consent from Note Holders to eliminate requirement to file public reports with SEC. |
December 20, 2006 | HPI files Chapter 11 Reorganization Plan with State of Delaware. Company receives approval to continue to pay vendors in ordinary course of business. |
March 20, 2007 | HPI exits Chapter 11 Reorganization converting Note Holders to Equity Holders of the Company. |
March 2007 | Third Avenue Management becomes majority shareholder of the Company |
